ABOUT TORONTO JKD
Jeet Kune Do is an ever-growing personal art that stands for "The Way of the Intercepting Fist." Founded by the late Bruce Lee, JKD has reached new limits in its non traditional training methods incorporating concepts from more than 26 different martial arts around the world. Its techniques are simple, direct and very combative, yet training does not focus on the development of technical expertise.
The focus is on the training of natural abilities and attributes such as speed, timing, strength, killer instinct, sensitivity, conditioning, etc. The development of such attributes is a personal achievement that does not discriminate gender, height, weight or previous martial arts experience.
Jeet Kune Do includes arts such as Wing Chun Kung Fu, Filipino Martial Arts, Muay Thai kick boxing, Boxe-Française Savate, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Greco-Roman Wrestling, Catch Wrestling, Judo, Shoot Wrestling, Indonesian Silat and more.
Combative elements are absorbed and modified to form JKD. Its in-fighting training methods and tactics are unknown to most styles. This places JKD in a league of its own! JKD is taught to the elite U.S. Navy SEALS, special Marines units and law enforcement organizations worldwide.
It is slowly becoming popular across Canada. There are currently only a handful of sanctioned JKD schools across Canada.
